Who are we?

WELCOME

The Hainford and Stratton Strawless News started life as a Parish Magazine, somewhere around 1971, when it was first produced by members of the clergy and church wardens of Hainford and Stratton Strawless Churches and then latterly by local residents.  Early magazines were hand produced and screen printed until the early 90’s when printing passed over to a local resident who had set up his own printing press.  In 2010, digital printing took over and the magazine is professionally printed by the same printing firm to this day and is delivered out to local residents by a team of volunteers.

The magazine updated its image in December 2021 with a new front cover design in colour and introduced a number of new features and articles.   Due to its popularity, distribution of the magazine has expanded to include a number of neighbouring villages as well as a postal subscription.  A Facebook Page was set up in 2022 with a growing number of followers and in 2024 the HSS News website was launched.

Through the website, the magazine is available to read online and back copies of previous magazines can also be accessed.   We are also proud to showcase all our advertisers through the website’s Business Directory which includes all those businesses and tradespeople who pay to advertise with us, many of whom are very local to our area.   

The magazine is funded entirely by advertising income and financial support and donations from our Village Halls, Parish Councils and the good will of individuals.   We thank everyone for their support without whom we could not operate.
